War Memorial Update

Exciting news regarding The Southam & Cleeve Hill War Memorial

Published: 17 June 2026

Southam Parish Council has now appointed an experienced stone mason to undertake light cleaning, repairs and repointing of the war memorial. We are hoping to get the work completed before the winter weather takes hold.
Thanks to the volunteers who are looking after the planting around the war memorial and neighbours who have helped with watering during the hot, dry spells. The winter flowering pansies have been delightful since last September and there has been lots of positive feedback.
The volunteers are now looking to introduce some small plants and perennials which are drought tolerant for the summer months and will require less watering once established. These will introduced over the coming months and years, but also continue with a pop of winter colour and spring bulbs.
If any one would like to donate any drought resistant, low height plants we are specifically looking for Lavender (e,g, Dwarf Blue,Hidcote, Little Lady, Munstead); Rosemary; Thyme; Hebe, Nepeta (Catnip), Hardy Geranium (Cranesbill), Erigeron, Campanula.
Look out for the first new plants going in soon!
